Tento Yuriko
Tento Yuriko was a long time student of zen, zoology and zazen who died a young
and tragic death. He wrote haiku and cinquain exclusively and considered himself
to be a layperson attempting to answer the koan the masters have proposed. The
answer, of course, was nothing.
Mr. Yuriko acknowledged Basho and Issa to be his spiritual forefathers and,
while much of Yuriko's earliest work draws from their classical tradition, his
later work eschewed the traditional orientation in favour of more modern topics.
Melting Sun will be his first published collection of haiku.
